Kamil ÖNAL was born in 1972 in Istanbul. He is married and has two children.
He began working in the ship recycling industry in 1990 in the Aliağa Ship Recycling Zone, following in the footsteps of his father, Mr. Osman ÖNAL, who launched operations in Balat/Istanbul in 1976.
He is currently the owner of ÖGE Ship Recycling Import Export Industry and Trade Inc. and Denizli Üretim Inc., and a partner in Aliağa Etki LNG Storage Terminal, the first of its kind in Turkey. He is also active in the construction sector.
On November 19, 2018, he was elected Chairman of the Board of the Ship Recycling Industrialists" Association. He is also a member of the Istanbul Chamber of Shipping Assembly.
